BKS Iyengar has been credited with bringing yoga and popularising it in the west. He was one of the first to promote the therapeutic applications of yoga, helping to widen access to a discipline of mind and body which had previously been exclusive and difficult to understand. He developed his own style, introduced the concept of teaching yoga to groups and promoted the idea of women doing yoga. His focus was precise body alignment and he was the first to introduce props such as belts, ropes, blocks and bolsters to enable people to maintain classical postures correctly and safely. In 2004 Time magazine included Iyengar in the list of 100 people who shape our world. He maintained ‘if you have the right mind, your body can do anything’
Iyengar Yoga Teachers Certification Mark
Iyengar Yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in the world and can help with flexibility, relaxation, strength, toning, balance, and general health, to name a few. Iyengar Yoga teachers are held to a very high standard and only gain their certification after years of training and evaluation.
When online, it is up to the individual to assess whether they are ready for the class that they have chosen. If you suffer from specific injuries or disease it is best to consult with your physician first.
Similarly, if you are pregnant, follow the recommended practice only. The practise of yoga asanas requires you – the practitioner – to gauge the safety of your practice within your personal physical limitations. It is better to build up slowly than to force and strain.
I am providing this programme/sequence for use by my existing yoga students only. They are not intended to substitute for proper medical advice. Consult your physician before beginning any new exercise program. In following this programme/sequence, you agree to assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries or damages, known or unknown, which you might incur as a result.
You are responsible to make sure that you can see and hear the class properly on your device and also that you position the device in such a way that you are visible to the teacher.
All class fees are non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by us. You can change/cancel the booking any time up to 1 hour before the class. If you wish to reschedule a class you can do so by clicking on the Change/Reschedule link on the class confirmation email to another class with the same price up to 1 hour before the class.
